Anti-hemorrhagic

Anti-hemorrhagic agents work by promoting clot formation, constricting blood vessels, or strengthening tissues to prevent or manage excessive bleeding. Many herbs with anti-hemorrhagic properties are astringent, meaning they tighten tissues and reduce blood flow. Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is a classic anti-hemorrhagic herb, traditionally used to staunch wounds and control bleeding. Shepherd’s purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris) is often applied to reduce menstrual bleeding or manage postpartum hemorrhage. Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana), with its strong astringent properties, is used topically to stop minor bleeding and soothe damaged skin. These herbs have long been valued for their ability to support the body in maintaining vascular integrity and addressing bleeding issues naturally.
