Emetic

Emetics stimulate the vomiting reflex by irritating the stomach lining or triggering the vomiting center in the brain. They are traditionally used in controlled situations to cleanse the stomach, particularly in emergencies involving ingestion of toxins (under medical guidance). Ipecac root (Carapichea ipecacuanha) is a well-known traditional emetic, used to induce vomiting in poisoning cases. Mustard (Brassica spp.) mixed with water can act as a quick household emetic. Lobelia (Lobelia inflata), though primarily a relaxant, has emetic properties when taken in higher doses. These agents should be used with caution and under professional supervision to avoid harm.

Note: The use of emetics is limited in modern medicine, as other treatments like activated charcoal are often safer and more effective. Always consult a healthcare provider in cases of poisoning.
